This rod is done on a XMG Lamaglas blank using American Tackle Titanium Blue guides and their Graphite reel seat
It has an eve foam handle and fore grip.
The feathers are all from Ring Neck Pheasants and are inlaid in reverse of the way that I usually use them Note the feathers inlaid in the reel seat also.
This outfit was matched up with a Pflueger President reel and is extremely well balanced

This Rod was done on a Cabela's Fish EagleII Muskie Blank and was built for a customer who wanted the rod to look like it was on fire.
All of the feathers are from Chinese Neck feathers, both natural and dyed to resemble the smoke and flame, The feathers are inlaid over a golden thread wrap.

I often use one of the feathers from the butt wrap on the reel seat. Not only does it give something extra to the rod, but you get to see a full feather

This is probably one of the quickest and easiest of any feather wrap, but the feathers are expensive. It's done with Cabela's Premium Dry necks, by Whiting Farms

I now have 4 people turning handles for me, and I pick up others on ebay. This piece was turned by Les Freiborg in Minnesota. Les also did the handle made from Elk and Deer horn, elsewhere in these photos

This is a close up of feather work done on a American Tackle Green Metrix blank.
The feather work is done using both ringneck and golden pheasant with Jungle Cock.
This combination really worked well with the metrix in the blank.

This is a close-up of the Golden Pheasant and Jungle Cock feather work that was done on the St Croix "Legend" rod done for Camp. Courageous described elsewhere in this website.

This is without doubt my favorite feather to work with. It's a "Jungle Cock" very hard to get, and extremely expensive. Sometime you will find these little feathers for sale up to $2 each

This picture shows the true colors of the Ring neck pheasant feathers . Mostly rump feathers were used here

This is a rod build for a special raffle for Camp Courageous , a camp for handicapped children in Iowa.
The blank is a 7 foot St Croix Legend One of their best rods
The handle is carved from Elk Horn and the butt and fore grip is made from whitetail deer antler.
The feather work on the butt wrap is a combination of Golden Pheasant and Jungle Cock feathers broken up with a Gudebrod thread wrap

This is a close up of the feather work done on a St Croix 6 foot 6 inch SCiv casting blank.
The feathers wrapping "Rudys Rods" are from a Golden Pheasant and the others are from Ring neck Pheasants.
Although it's hard to visualize, it sometimes takes up to 30 feathers to make up 1 inch of the rod.

This is a St Croix Fly Rod SCiv 8 foot 4 weight rod.
The handle is carved from "Tiger Maple" and is of a beautiful grain.
The feather work on the butt wrap is entirely from Ring Neck Pheasant feathers, individually inlaid.

This is a close up of the feather work on a bait casting Cabelas blank using golden pheasant feat

A saltwater spinning rod on a Mud Hole blank, using all ringneck pheasant feathers over a gold under wrap

An assortment of spinning and bait casting rods from 2008

First time I have ever done anything in red. Not the easiest color of feather to buy. I just bought some " Lady Amhurst Heads" in red, and plan on doing a rod in those mixed with a red and black hackle
